Dr. Jesús Porta-Etessam a degree in medicine and surgery from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and made the 
residence of neurology
at the University Hospital «October 12» in Madrid, completing his training in neuro oncology center Sloan Kettering in New York. Master in statistics and epidemiology for at UNED, diploma in cognitive impairment in the elderly neurobiology and neurosciences by the UCM, attended the training program in Leadership and Strategic Management of Scientific ESADE Societies and the program senior management of health institutions IESE .
TEACHING AND PUBLICATIONS:
He currently works as Head of Section of Neurology at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital of Madrid in the inpatient unit, headaches and neurootooftalmología, where he is one of the guardians of residents and board member of the Institute of Neurosciences.
Associate professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, teaches general pathology and neurology, provide tutoring to students and is one of responsible practices in this discipline.
It has been the promoter activities as «Butterfly Art and Soul» that seeks to analyze the relationship between neuroscience and the arts, this activity has regularly performed at the annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Neurology. It has been the main promoter of Brain Awareness Week, an activity that seeks the dissemination of knowledge in neurological diseases in the population. Director of the meeting «One more day» looking look disease from all perspectives. He is a promoter and co-director of the Congress of Neurology Residents, activity that seeks to look at the specialty and patients from a different perspective than usual. He is also co-director of the Academy of Semiotics, meeting seeking training in the art of neurology.
It has been dedicated for years to research in the field of neurology with more than 200 published articles and 300 conference papers. With his background in the field of research has received several honors prize highlighting the SEN headaches for their contributions in this field.
AFFILIATIONS:
Member of the Spanish Society of Neurology, where he serves as director of the department of Culture. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Neurology directing vocalía communication and international relations, member of the board of the study groups of headaches and neuro-ophthalmology which is one of the promoters. He has been a member of the Madrid Association of Neurology.
Editor in Chief of the Journal of Neurology and Neuroscience. Member of the editorial board of Headache Research and Treatment, International Journal of Ophthalmology and Clinical Research, Neurology, Journal of Neurology, Kranion, Neuroscience and History and Lancet Neurology (Spaniard). Honorary member of several associations of patients. He is the coordinator of the online platform PCI.
